PTA

You know we do Morning Drive Radio Tours and Satellite Television Tours but did you know PTA also sends their authors packing? Traveling on the road with PTA this fall are: Chuck Norris (10 cities), Fearless Chef Andy Husbands (7 cities), Scott Blanchard and Madeleine Homan (9 cities), Reese Halter, a Forest Fire Expert (Piggybacking) among many others.

We bring our extensive local media expertise to bear when booking road tours. A sample of our bookings to date are:

  • For Fearless Chef Andy Husbands: KDFW-FOX, "Good Day Dallas", KDVR-FOX, "Good Day Colorado", Rocky Mountain News, and KATU-ABC, "AM Northwest" (Portland)
  • For Reese Halter: KTLA-TV (Los Angeles), KCBS/KCAL-CBS (Los Angeles) and KNX-AM (Los Angeles) and KPNX-NBC, "12 news Today" (Phoenix),
  • For Scott Blanchard and Madeleine Homan: KUSA-NBC, "9 News Daybreak" (Denver), Post-Standard (Syracuse), and KOVR-CBS, "13 Daybreak" (Sacramento)

We handle it all from the escorts to booking the media to providing schedules to helping arrange the travel. We can also piggyback an author/spokesperson who doesn't have time for a full media blitz but wants a few strategic hits in a city they are traveling to anyway for an event or other business.

Give us a call and we'll help your authors conquer local media across the country.

Surfin'

If you are touring a celebrity another place to post a listing of your client's signings/event besides the calendar section of the local newspaper is at http://www.geocities.com/leecoke/. We've discovered that media also checks out the site, not that you'd need any help with the media if you have a celebrity.

Clarinets, guitars, and carrots? Introducing the first (and as far as we know only) Vienna Vegetable Orchestra! These ingenious musicians make beautiful music with instruments made out of vegetables. After the concert, a professional chef takes the stage and makes vegetable soup out of the instruments to serve to the musicians and the audience. Go to www.gemueseorcherster.com to hear some of their food inspired tracks.

Make your mom and a complete stranger happy on the same day. How? Turn your wedding into a charitable event. From having gifts donated directly to your charity of choice (www.marriedforgood.com) to donating your wedding gown (www.makingmemories.org) so the proceeds can benefit breast cancer research, there are lots of sites that can show you how to make your big day even bigger.

Tips From the Top

Media Lists: Play the Numbers Game

When it comes to media lists, collect as many names as possible. The more names included on your list, the greater your chances of getting your story told. Creating and maintaining your contact list of media and other individuals who may help you publicize your product of service is one of the most important things you can do for your business. The suggestions below will help you get started:

  • Jot down the names of members of the media and interesting people and how they might help.
  • Form the habit of making notes and collecting names. Always carry a small notebook and pen.
  • List the names of ever person you know who might remotely help.
  • Study the media to discover who's covering your field and add them to your list.
  • Ask your friends, family, and business associates for names to add to your list.
  • Ask everyone you meet for his or her business card.
  • Toss all you notebook entries and business cards in a bowl, box or file drawer and set aside a specific time each week to organize them, add new entries and revise your list. Insert comments on how you met, mutual friends or any other information that might help you break the ice when you contact them.

Some good Internet services that give the names and contact information for media people are:

A Personal Note from Rick

A dear friend of mine named Frank Lunn nearly lost his 11-year old son Frankie to Leukemia. If not for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Frankie would not be alive today.

In order to show his appreciation to St. Jude's Frank came up with an idea – he wants to raise $1 million dollars within the next 30-days (by August 31st) to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This contribution will help find cures and save more children from this dreaded disease.

Frank has named it "Operation Blessings In Adversity" and he's asked me to spread the word to my friends and colleagues. So I'm turning to you, in friendship, for your help. When you make a donation, I will give you a free copy of "Million Dollar Resource List" a $49.00 value as a sign of my appreciation. Plus, you'll also get over $1,000 in other bonus gifts from several prominent entrepreneurs who have also graciously agreed to spread the word about Operation Blessing In Adversity.

Will you contribute to help save the lives of children, like Frankie?

Please click on the following link to learn more about Frankie's remarkable story and about Operation Blessing In Adversity. www.blessingsinadversity.com/18

Sincerely,
Rick Frishman

P.S. Remember, the success of Operation Blessings In Adversity could save the life of someone you love.
