PTA CELEBRATES OUR 40th ANNIVERSARY!

Planned Television Arts is proud to announce the celebration of our 40th anniversary. Founded on February 1, 1962, Planned Television Arts has grown into the leader in the book publicity industry, touring more authors than any other agency. Forever improving and expanding, we now have independent offices in Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Toronto.

PTA has always been considered an innovative leader in the industry, creating the Morning Drive Radio Tour in 1990 and being the pacesetter in developing Satellite Television Tours. In addition, PTA has developed specialty boutiques including PTA Faith; PTA Espanol; and PTA Body Mind and Spirit, which respectively handle spiritual authors; latino accounts, and human potential books.

Although known currently for our publishing campaigns, some of PTA's earliest accounts were corporate/consumer campaigns, including the first for the New York Lotto, Planned Parenthood and many pharmaceutical companies. Today, our corporate accounts find us working with organizations such as The Brookings Institute, National Geographic Society, and many websites, including AskDrWeil.com.

With a current staff of 40+ publicists and account executives, we look forward to another successful 40 years of business.

Prose from the Pros

PTA spoke with Danny Miles, producer for USA Radio, a news/talk network syndicated to 350 stations nationwide. Here's what he had to say:

  • What do you think the hot topic for 2002 will be?
Our military's ongoing search for Bin Laden and the mission to put a stop to his terror network and the security concerns that surround it. The economy will also be a continuing story. Life as we know it has changed since 9/11 and every big event this year will be more patriotic than ever. Just wait until the Olympics or the awards shows like the Grammys or the Oscar's.
  • What do you look for in a guest?
I look for someone who is upbeat, knows what he or she is talking about, and speaks with the same kind of passion it took for them to get their book published or to be chosen as the spokesperson for the cause they are pitching. It's important for the guest to know how to sell himself/herself to the listener as someone they can trust, and the rest will fall into place.
