WHAT'S COOKING AT PTA?

With its expanding list of cookbook titles, PTA's client roster is certainly indicative of the current trend toward dining at home. From Babe's Country Cookbook (GT) to Sophia Loren's Recipes and Memories (GT), cookbook publicity offers the opportunity to reach food editors and food lovers across the country. Mario Batali of Food Network fame explained to listeners during a Morning Drive Radio Tour the virtues of using local produce in recipes, as detailed in Simple Italian Food: Recipes from My Two Villages (Potter). Sophia Loren dazzled viewers of the Today Show, The View, and David Letterman among many other national programs, not to mention the press attention she received from the Daily News and the New York Post at the book party hosted by her friend Giorgio Armani. A physician from the world renowned Mayo-Clinic appeared on Today in New York to highlight healthy food substitutions from The Mayo Clinic/Williams Sonoma Cookbook (Time-Life Books). And not all spokespersons are people! Babe, star of the Academy-Award-Winning film, came back this year to release his second movie and his first cookbook – Babe's Country Cookbook – mentioned in Newsday and Fitness.

Some projects that are underway:

  • Last Suppers: If the World Ended Tomorrow, What Would Be Your Last Meal? (Lebhar-Friedman Books)
  • BBQ America: A Pilgrimage in Search of America's Best Barbecue (Time-Life Books)
  • Richard Simmon's Still Hungry After All These Years (GT)
